Teaching Assistant (TA) – Secondary School
Location: Yate

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Yate is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and making a positive impact on the lives of young people. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support students both inside and outside the classroom, helping to create a positive learning environment where all learners can thrive.
The role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or an individual looking to develop their career within education, gaining valuable classroom experience while supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in lessons, helping them access learning and remain engaged.
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and improve attainment.
- Assist teachers with the preparation and delivery of learning activities.
- Provide targeted support to students who require additional assistance.
- Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where required.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Contribute to the wider school community and support extracurricular activities where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships and act as a positive role model.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
