Job Advert: Full-Time Teaching Assistant – Wirral

A supportive and inclusive specialist education setting in Wirral is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The school provides a nurturing environment for pupils who benefit from smaller class sizes, personalised support, and staff who truly care about their wellbeing and progress. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting learning, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils build confidence in and out of the classroom.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional learning, social, emotional, or behavioural needs
  • Work alongside Teachers and Support Staff to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and resilience
  • Assist with planning, adapting resources, and reinforcing learning objectives
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive atmosphere where students can develop academically and personally
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and behaviour as required

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, childcare, SEN, or similar)
  • A patient, compassionate approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with unique learning and emotional needs
  • Understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or SEN is highly desirable (training can be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
