Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant who thrives in specialist education? Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a SEND setting in Wimborne, starting October 2026, with the potential to start earlier.

This opportunity is suited to someone who already has experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs and understands the importance of patience, structure and consistency.

The school needs an educator who can hit the ground running, become a reliable member of the classroom team and confidently provide support from the beginning of the placement.

Your Role in the Classroom

Working alongside the class teacher and wider support team, you will help pupils access learning in a way that works for their individual needs

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
• Encouraging pupils to participate and remain engaged with learning
• Breaking activities down into manageable and accessible steps
• Supporting communication, independence and social development
• Using agreed strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and behaviour
• Maintaining clear and consistent boundaries
• Working closely with teachers and other professionals to provide joined-up support

Every pupil is different, so being able to adapt your communication and approach throughout the day will be an important part of this position.

The Experience We Need

We are particularly interested in speaking with people who have worked within a special school, SEND provision, alternative provision or a similar education environment.

You will need to be confident supporting additional needs rather than relying on extensive direction throughout the day. Previous experience with autism, communication needs, learning difficulties and/or behaviours that can challenge would be valuable.

A calm approach, resilience and strong safeguarding awareness are essential. Above all, you should be someone who can build trust while maintaining professional boundaries.
