Pay: £92.63 – £95 per day

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils throughout their school day. Your role will be varied, with opportunities to provide classroom assistance, one-to-one support and small-group interventions.

You will help pupils build confidence in their learning while developing important academic, social and personal skills. A positive and nurturing approach will be essential, as you will play an important role in encouraging pupils to become more independent and engaged learners.

This position would suit someone who enjoys working with primary-aged children and is looking to make a genuine difference within a school setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with engaging and age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils as required.
• Help develop pupils' skills in reading, writing, phonics and numeracy.
• Assist learners across a range of subjects and classroom activities.
• Encourage pupils to engage positively and confidently with their learning.
• Promote independence, resilience and positive behaviour.
• Provide encouragement, reassurance and positive reinforcement.
• Support effective classroom routines and organisation.
• Prepare and organise learning resources and classroom materials.
• Observe pupils' progress and provide relevant feedback to the class teacher.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• Support pupils who require additional assistance with their learning or development.
• Assist with wider classroom and school activities where required.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
• Follow school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with children, ideally within a school, nursery, childcare or similar setting.
• Is caring, patient, enthusiastic and committed to supporting children's development.
• Understands the needs of primary-aged pupils.
• Is confident providing both individual and small-group support.
• Has a calm, positive and nurturing approach.
• Can communicate effectively with pupils, teachers, parents and colleagues.
• Can encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
• Is able to adapt their approach to suit individual pupils.
• Is organised, reliable and able to use their own initiative.
• Works well as part of a team while also being confident working independently.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will need:

• Previous experience working with children is desirable.
• Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration as a Teaching Assistant, or willingness to apply where required.
• An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing.
