Join Our Team: Secondary School Teaching Assistants – Teesside

We are currently recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Teesside. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to play an important role in their academic and personal development.


The Role

As a Secondary School Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students throughout their learning journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students in lessons, both one‑to‑one and in small groups, to help them understand and engage with the curriculum
  • Assisting with classroom management to maintain a positive, focused and inclusive learning environment
  • Encouraging students to build confidence, stay motivated, and reach their full potential
  • Supporting the development of key academic, social and personal skills across a range of subjects
  • Helping teachers with lesson preparation and general classroom support where needed

Who We’re Looking For

We are keen to speak with candidates who are:

  • Positive and enthusiastic, with a genuine interest in working with secondary‑aged students
  • Strong communicators, able to build positive relationships with both students and staff
  • Reliable team players, happy to collaborate as part of a supportive school community
  • Organised and proactive, able to adapt quickly and take initiative in the classroom
  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable but not essential

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required, or you must be willing to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
