Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a well-regarded, inclusive all-through school in Southampton to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA).

This is a large, mixed, all-through school (ages 4–16) with a strong community ethos, built on values of inclusion, belonging, and high expectations for all learners. The school has modern facilities and a collaborative staff team, following a significant redevelopment in recent years.

The most recent Ofsted inspection rated the school ‘Good’ in all areas, including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with teachers to support pupils’ academic and personal development
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, particularly for pupils with SEND
  • Help to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Support pupils with additional needs, including social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
  • Assist with classroom preparation and resource organisation

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable)
  • Has a passion for supporting pupils with additional learning needs
  • Is patient, resilient, and adaptable
  • Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
