Job description

Teaching Assistants – SEN Education Setting 

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? We are recruiting dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join a specialist educational setting this September.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning differences.

The Role

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Assisting with personalised learning programmes and therapeutic approaches

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions

  • Helping to create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support pupil progress

  • Supporting with personal care, where required

The Environment
You will be working within a specialist setting that provides a highly supportive, person-centred approach to learning. The environment is designed to meet the individual needs of each pupil, combining education, therapeutic support, and life-skills development to help young people achieve their full potential.

What We're Looking For

  • A patient, caring, and resilient individual

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations

  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with SEND

  • Previous experience in education, care, support work, youth work, or similar settings is essential

  • A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday - 08:30 – 16:15

  • To start in September 2026

Contract

  • Opportuniuty for permanent employment for the right educators

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
