KS1 Teaching Assistant – Immediate and Autumn Term Starts

Are you looking for a rewarding Teaching Assistant role in Newport?

Teaching Personnel is recruiting KS1 Teaching Assistants to work within welcoming primary schools across Newport. We have opportunities available for experienced Teaching Assistants, as well as individuals with relevant experience working with children who are looking to build a career within education.

You will work alongside class teachers to support pupils across Key Stage 1 (Years 1-2), helping them engage with their learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

The Role

Depending on the school and placement, your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1, small group or whole-class basis
• Assisting with literacy, numeracy and phonics activities
• Supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
• Working with children with ASC, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs
• Helping pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
• Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
• Encouraging children's independence, confidence and social development
• Working closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual learning needs
• Assisting with classroom preparation and learning resources
• Promoting a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Who We're Looking For

• Have experience working with children or young people
• Are patient, nurturing, reliable and enthusiastic
• Can build positive relationships with primary-aged pupils
• Are confident working as part of a team
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development

Previous school experience is advantageous but not essential. We also welcome applications from:

Requirements

Successful applicants will need:

• EWC registration, or willingness to register
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Two professional references covering the past two years
• Relevant experience working with children or young people
