Pay: From £92.63 per day

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in a variety of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Newport.
Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, a graduate looking to gain classroom experience, or someone with a background working with children or young people, we'd love to hear from you.
We have opportunities available across the Foundation Phase, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with both short-term and long-term positions available.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and socially, helping them to engage in learning and reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities may include:
✅ Supporting pupils on a one-to-one, small-group or whole-class basis
✅ Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities
✅ Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and key learning skills
✅ Supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
✅ Working with pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs
✅ Encouraging positive behaviour and classroom engagement
✅ Supporting literacy, numeracy and targeted intervention activities
✅ Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
Who We're Looking For

- Have experience working with children or young people
- Are patient, enthusiastic and reliable
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Enjoy supporting children to learn and achieve
- Can work well as part of a team
- Are adaptable and proactive in different classroom environments
Previous school experience is beneficial but not essential.

Requirements
To work in schools, successful applicants will need:
- EWC registration (or willingness to register)
- An Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two professional references
- Experience working with children or young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
