KS2 Teaching Assistant – September Start
Are you looking for a Teaching Assistant role in Newport this September?
Teaching Personnel is recruiting KS2 Teaching Assistants to work within welcoming primary schools across Newport. We have opportunities available for both experienced Teaching Assistants and people with relevant experience working with children who are looking to develop their career in education.
You will work alongside class teachers to help pupils across Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6) engage with their learning, build confidence and make progress in the classroom.
The Role
Depending on the placement, your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils within the classroom on a 1:1, small-group or whole-class basis
- Providing additional support in literacy and numeracy
- Working with pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
- Supporting children with ASC, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs
- Helping pupils remain engaged and focused during lessons
- Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
- Delivering targeted interventions
- Working closely with teachers and school staff to meet individual pupil needs
Who We're Looking For

- Have experience working with children or young people
- Are patient, reliable and enthusiastic
- Can build positive relationships with pupils
- Are confident working as part of a school team
- Have a genuine interest in supporting children's learning and development
Previous school experience is beneficial, but we also welcome applications from youth workers, sports coaches, childcare practitioners and others with transferable experience working with children.
Requirements
Successful applicants will need:
- EWC registration, or willingness to register
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete one
- Two suitable professional references
- Relevant experience working with children or young people
