Are you looking for a rewarding role as a Teaching Assistant for a pupil with Additional Learning Needs?
Teaching personnel are currently looking for a dedicated individual to join one of our partnership schools in Newport. Our school is looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to help support pupils with ALN (Additional Learning Needs) and behavioural issues within the mainstream classroom. In this role, you will need to be a resilient and supportive individual, who can help provide essential care and support to help your pupil grow and develop. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to effectively assist this pupil and contribute to the overall positive learning environment.
Responsibilities of the ALN Teaching Assistant:
- Work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil in the mainstream classroom who has Additional Learning Needs
- Understand and engage with the pupil in every task, ensuring that they stay engaged and learn.
- Foster a positive and encouraging environment, actively supporting the growth and development of your pupil.
Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport, NP19
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30
Pay: Minimum £12.90 per hour
Start: ASAP
Key Requirements for a Successful Teaching Assistant:
- To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
- Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
- Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
- To be strong and resilient when facing challenging behaviour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
