Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable General Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive school team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils’ learning and development across the classroom, working closely with teaching staff to help children reach their full potential.
Location: Nelson
Contract: Full-time 8.30am – 3.30pm
Salary: £14.25 - £15 per hour
Start Date: Monday 1st June 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher with the day-to-day delivery of lessons
- Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning
- Assist with classroom preparation and resource organisation
- Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development
- Provide general classroom support, including during playtimes and transitions
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential)
- A patient, caring, and positive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team and use initiative when required
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
