Are you passionate about supporting young people who face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges? Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour, youth services, care settings, alternative provisions, or educational environments?

We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Leicester City Centre seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for an empathetic, resilient, and proactive individual who can build positive relationships and help students overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support, both in and out of the classroom. Your role will be instrumental in helping young people engage positively with education and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
• Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviours.
• Encouraging positive engagement, attendance, and participation in lessons.
• Building trusted relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Working alongside teachers and SEN professionals to implement support strategies.
• Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Assisting with behaviour management and de-escalation techniques where required.

About You

You will ideally have:
