Job Advertisement: Full-Time Teaching Assistant

Location: Kirkby
Contract: Full-Time, with potential for a temporary-to-permanent opportunity
School Type: 11–16 Mixed Comprehensive (approx. 1,000 students)

Role Overview

The school is seeking a motivated and supportive Teaching Assistant to work closely with teachers across a range of subjects. This role is perfect for someone passionate about education and keen to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective in-class support for both teachers and students.
  • Assist in preparing and organising learning materials.
  • Support individual students or small groups to help them make progress.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Essential Qualities

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Patience and empathy, recognising and responding to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Adaptability, staying flexible in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • Strong organisational skills to support effective lesson delivery.
  • Teamwork, collaborating with teachers and support staff.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working with young people in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
