Job description

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Christchurch, supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about behaviour support and committed to helping pupils develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and emotionally. The school offers a structured, nurturing environment where consistency, relationships, and positive behaviour strategies are central to daily practice.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils in managing behaviour, regulating emotions, and engaging positively with learning. You will provide both in-class and targeted support, helping pupils overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Implementing individual behaviour support plans and strategies

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support

  • Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times

  • Helping pupils re-engage with learning following periods of dysregulation

  • Promoting a calm, safe, and consistent learning environment

  • Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
