Are you looking for the opportunity to enable young people with the skills to lead a meaningful and enjoyable life?

A specialist teaching provision in Small Heath , Birmingham. Is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in a KS2 class supporting children receive the best potential opportunities for them . This position would be an initial temporary contract which will continue until the end of the academic year. There is the potential for an elongated contract based on the feedback from the school. You may have experience within mainstream or specialist settings and may have additional training that would be beneficial to the role - such as Autism Awareness/ Safeguarding/ Positive Behaviour support / TeamTeach.

The school are looking to employ an individual who aligns with the schools’ values of aiding children and young people to make progress and reach their full potential. The school is looking for an individual who has a background of supporting young people with additional needs and the drive to enhance and develop their skills.

It has been noted that young people within SEN schools, do often display some particularly challenging behaviours so having a background within the SEN field would be greatly desirable for this role. Training will be provided upon appointment for the role. The class is desired as a “wonderful class” and would thrive with the guidance of a great teaching assistant.

The successful candidate must be warm, welcoming, and able to build strong relationships from the get-go. You must be proactive in your approach whilst making learning fun and enjoyable for the young learners and remaining resilient in your positive behaviour support. The school have stated that they encourage applications from Teaching assistants of all backgrounds, as long as they have a genuine passion to support children and young people with additional needs. School will accept applications from Teaching assistants from the below backgrounds:

  • Youth workers
  • Graduates who have degrees associating Psychology, Criminology, Sports coaching, Youth and community studies
  • Teaching assistant with a background in specialist schools
  • Teaching assistant with SEN experience in mainstream schools

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
