Salary: £22,996 – £25,068 actual annual salary (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time, Term Time Only
Hours: 40 hours per week

We're looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our team as we prepare to open a new specialist school in January 2027. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a positive and supportive learning environment from the very beginning.
The school will provide education for children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With capacity for up to 96 pupils, our aim is to create a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where every learner is supported to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing. Working closely with the Class Teacher and wider multidisciplinary team, you will help create a nurturing, engaging and stimulating environment that enables pupils to succeed both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities

Support pupils during learning activities, reinforcing teaching and adapting support to meet individual needs.

Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence.

Assist with personal care, including hygiene, dressing and eating, where required.

Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development.

Observe and provide feedback on pupils' progress, behaviour and wellbeing.

Prepare learning resources and contribute to lesson planning and classroom activities.

Help maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

About You
Essential Qualifications
-
GCSE Maths and English (or Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent).

Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.
Essential Skills and Experience

A genuine commitment to putting children and young people at the centre of everything you do.

Ability to encourage independence and promote positive behaviour.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Good ICT skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable

Previous experience working within a SEND environment.

Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
