Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary School)
Location: Chester
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary (until Summer holidays) with potential extension into September
Hours: Full-time (term time only)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chester. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils’ learning and development in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The role is initially until the Summer holidays, with the possibility of continuing into the new academic year in September.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the primary curriculum
- Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning and provide targeted support
- Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Support pupils with additional needs, ensuring inclusive practice and equal access to learning
- Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and school activities where required
- Contribute to the assessment and tracking of pupil progress
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a primary school or with children (essential)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, flexible and proactive approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
