Teacher of Religious Education (Maternity Cover)
Location: Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Contract: Maternity Cover (January 2026 Start)
Salary: Paid to Scale
Hours: Full-Time
About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed and enthusiastic qualified Teacher of Religious Education to join our secondary school in Pontypridd on a maternity cover contract beginning January 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive and forward-thinking Humanities faculty and to contribute to the continued success of the schools learners.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will undertake full teaching duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Planning and delivering engaging, high-quality RE lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Assessing, tracking, and reporting on pupils’ progress in line with school policies
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect and curiosity
- Contributing to departmental planning, moderation, and curriculum development
- Participating fully in school life, including pastoral responsibilities, parents’ evenings, and relevant meetings
- Maintaining high standards of behaviour and safeguarding practices
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Is registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) prior to commencing the role
- Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for developing pupils’ understanding of world faiths and ethical issues
- Demonstrates excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Is committed to the wellbeing, progress, and achievement of all learners
- Works effectively as part of a team and contributes positively to school culture

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
