Geography Teacher – Farnborough

ASAP Start – Maternity Cover Until December 2026

Full Time – Suitable for ECT/MPR/UPR

Teaching Personnel are supporting a Hampshire secondary school seeking a highly driven and inspiring Geography Teacher to join their strong Humanities faculty on a maternity cover contract running from ASAP until December 2026. The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about Geography and committed to ensuring all pupils make meaningful progress, regardless of ability. You will be joining a dedicated team of three Geography specialists who work cohesively to deliver engaging lessons, run popular clubs, and support successful GCSE uptake. With a suite of subject‑specific classrooms and a wealth of resources, the department offers an inspiring and supportive environment for both students and staff.


What You Will Be Doing

This maternity cover role reflects key responsibilities expected of a skilled Geography practitioner, including:

  • Delivering engaging, challenging and well‑structured lessons to students from Year 7 to Year 11.
  • Motivating, inspiring and challenging learners to achieve their very best.
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort, and progress.
  • Using excellent subject knowledge to develop students’ understanding of key geographical concepts and skills.
  • Playing an active role in enhancing teaching and learning within the department by sharing resources, modelling best practice, and participating in collaborative teaching.
  • Contributing to field trips, Geography clubs, and wider enrichment experiences.
  • Participating in departmental meetings, assisting with exam preparation, and completing administrative tasks directed by the Curriculum Leader.
  • Actively safeguarding students and promoting their welfare at all times.
  • Upholding whole‑school policies and contributing positively to the wider school community.

What We Are Looking For

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) and ideally a degree in Geography or a related field.
  • Confident knowledge of the 11–16 Geography curriculum, including GCSE content.
  • The ability to deliver lessons that are inspiring, informative and well‑paced.
  • Excellent classroom management and a professional, authoritative presence.
  • Strong communication skills suited to working with pupils, parents, staff and external visitors.
  • Good IT literacy and the ability to use digital tools to enhance teaching.
  • A proactive, self‑motivated approach with strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • A positive outlook and a good sense of humour, valued highly within the team.
