Teacher of English – Basingstoke

Full-Time | Permanent | MPR/UPR

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a successful secondary school in Basingstoke to recruit an inspirational and committed Teacher of English.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving, well-resourced and highly regarded English department. The successful candidate will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to develop a lasting appreciation of language, literature, reading and communication.

The Role

As a Teacher of English, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach English Language and English Literature
  • Create a calm, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment
  • Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and address gaps in knowledge
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations
  • Adapt teaching to support different abilities and additional learning needs
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with departmental and pastoral colleagues
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development
  • Support enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom

The Ideal Candidate

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Have strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 English curriculum

  • Set high expectations for student progress and achievement
  • Use assessment and feedback to improve learning
  • Inspire students of different abilities and starting points
