SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a recent Psychology Graduate to join one of our client schools in Tameside as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

 If you have studied modules that have a strong focus on the impact that special educational needs can have on the development of young people, then this position will be ideal for you.

The position will start in September, and it will be a full-time position, based on a 6.5 hour working day.

The salary for this position will be between £385 and £450 dependent on the requirements from the school.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Working on a one-to-one basis with pupils who have autism to ensure that they are achieving their full academic potential.
• Assisting the pupil with their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) if they have one.
• Managing any difficult behavioural traits that may be displayed by the pupil due to their special educational needs.
• You will be working with pupils who have autism, you must have a great understanding of the psychological impact that this can have on a young persons’ education.
• You need to build trusting relationships with the pupils that you are working with so that you are best able to support them.

This position will be highly rewarding as you will be working alongside the most vulnerable pupils, and you will have a significant impact on their development. For the right candidates, there will be the opportunity to progress onto permanent positions as you gain more experience.

For this position, you must be able to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, as well as provide two employment-based references, covering the last two years of your employment history.
