Student Support Worker

Pay Rate: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Location: Preston, Lancashire
Start Date: ASAP

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Worker to join a specialist educational setting in Preston. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Special Educational Needs (SEN).

About the Role:

As a Student Support Worker, you will be working on a 1:1 basis with students who require additional support due to complex learning and physical needs. You will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop life skills and participate in classroom and therapeutic activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for students with PMLD and SEN.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility where necessary.
  • Support students in classroom activities and therapy sessions.
  • Follow individual education and care plans.
  • Monitor student progress and report to teaching and support staff.
  • Promote an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting individuals with PMLD and/or SEN.
  • A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a team.
  • A current enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
