Student Engagement Officer – Secondary School
Location: Caerphilly, South Wales Pay: £100 per day, PAYE, paid weekly Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday Start Date: 2nd September 2026 (Autumn Term) Contract: Long-term, term-time
About the Role
As the new academic year begins, Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Student Engagement Officer to join a secondary school in Caerphilly. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone passionate about supporting young people and looking to build a career in education.
You'll work closely with pupils who benefit from extra guidance, encouragement, or consistency — including students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), Behavioural, social and emotional needs, or those who thrive with a positive role model and structured support.
The role also offers genuine progression, with opportunities to lead classes and deliver pre-planned lessons over time — a great way to build classroom management skills, confidence, and responsibility within a school setting.
No two days are the same, and every day you'll be making a real difference to a young person's education and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support, both in and outside the classroom
- Support pupils with behaviour management, emotional regulation, and confidence building
- Encourage engagement with learning and help maintain positive routines
- Build strong, professional relationships that help students feel supported and motivated
- Supervise and deliver pre-set lessons, keeping pupils focused and on task
- Promote a positive learning environment while maintaining high expectations of behaviour
About You
We'd love to hear from candidates with experience in areas such as:
- Sports coaching or leadership
- Youth work or mentoring
- Care and support work
- Tutoring or classroom support
- Volunteering, activity camps, or community-based programmes

Requirements
Teaching Personnel will support successful applicants through the clearance and registration process. You'll need to:
- Be aged 18 or over
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, EWC registration
- Complete Level 2 Safeguarding Training during onboarding
- Provide two professional references covering the last 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
