Job description

Secondary School Sports Coach – Dorchester

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Secondary School Sports Coach to join a supportive and forward‑thinking school community in Dorchester. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about physical education, developing young people’s confidence, and promoting an active, healthy lifestyle.

You will play a key part in delivering engaging PE sessions, supporting curriculum activities, and leading a range of extracurricular sports clubs and teams.

Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026
Contract: Full-time
Salary: Paid to Scale


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons to pupils across various secondary year groups.
  • Lead lunchtime activities, after-school sports clubs, and training for school teams.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to encourage positive attitudes towards fitness, wellbeing, and participation in sport.
  • Promote resilience, teamwork, and strong sporting values.
  • Maintain a safe and well-managed environment in line with safeguarding and behaviour expectations.
  • Support with equipment setup, lesson preparation, and the organisation of school sports events and fixtures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with young people in a school, coaching, or youth sports environment.
  • Relevant coaching or PE qualifications (e.g., Level 2 Coaching Certificate, sports coaching degree, or similar).
  • A confident, enthusiastic approach and the ability to motivate secondary-aged students.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people grow through sport and physical activity.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
