Job description

Secondary School Sports Coach – Weymouth

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Secondary School Sports Coach to join a thriving and supportive school community in Weymouth. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about physical education, student wellbeing, and helping young people build confidence through sport and active participation.

In this role, you will deliver engaging PE sessions, support curriculum PE, lead extracurricular clubs, and motivate pupils to adopt healthy, active lifestyles.

Location: Weymouth
Start Date: Monday 13th April 2026
Contract: Full-time
Salary: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality PE lessons and sports sessions across a range of secondary year groups and abilities.
  • Lead lunchtime clubs, after-school sports teams, fitness sessions, and enrichment activities.
  • Support teaching staff in promoting physical activity, wellbeing, and positive attitudes to sport throughout the school.
  • Encourage teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies at all times.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, assist with event setup, and help organise school competitions and fixtures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with young people—ideally within a school, coaching, or youth sports environment.
  • Relevant coaching qualifications (e.g., Level 2 Coaching Certificate, sports coaching/PE degree, or equivalent).
  • A confident, approachable, and motivating attitude with the ability to engage secondary-aged pupils.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people develop both their sporting skills and personal confidence.
