Transform Communication and Help Young People Find Their Voice

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be supporting specialist educational provisions in the Shepton Mallet area in their search for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join their multidisciplinary teams from September 2026, with the potential to start earlier.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work within highly collaborative environments supporting children and young people with complex communication needs, autism and a range of additional learning needs.

The role offers the chance to make a meaningful and lasting impact by helping pupils develop the communication skills they need to access learning and build independence.

 

About the Role

• Carry out assessments and identify individual communication needs.
• Develop and deliver personalised therapy programmes.
• Provide one-to-one, small group and classroom-based interventions.
• Support pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties.
• Work closely with teaching staff to embed communication strategies across the curriculum.
• Provide advice and guidance to families and colleagues.
• Support the use of alternative and augmentative communication methods where appropriate.
• Contribute to reviews and monitor pupil progress against agreed outcomes.
• Collaborate with therapists, teachers and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach.

• Have experience working with children and young people with SEND.
• Are knowledgeable about autism and communication needs.
• Enjoy working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Are organised, proactive and passionate about making a difference.

As these are specialist settings, we are looking for experienced professionals who can hit the ground running and make an immediate contribution to the therapy and wider school team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
