SEND Teaching Assistant
Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time temporary basis within a specialist SEND secondary school in Preston. The school caters for pupils aged 11-19 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and supports a wide range of additional learning needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Physical Disabilities
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Complex SEND requirements
This is a highly rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping students access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting with personalised learning programmes
- Promoting independence, communication and social development
- Supporting pupils with additional learning and physical needs
- Building positive relationships with students, staff and families
- Helping to create a safe, engaging and supportive learning environment
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children or vulnerable adults
- Previous SEND, care, support work, youth work or education experience
- Patience, empathy and resilience
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday
- Full-time
- Term-time only
- Temporary agency position
- Immediate and ongoing opportunities available

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
