Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-resourced Secondary SEN School in Stockport to recruit a Specialist SEN Support Assistant for a full-time role starting in September 2026.

The Role

As a Specialist SEN Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
• Help students access learning by adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and engagement.
• Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised support plans.
• Promote a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work or support settings.
• Is patient, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.
• Can remain calm in challenging situations and build strong professional relationships.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Experience supporting any of the following would be highly beneficial:

• Autism (ASC)
• ADHD
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties
• SEMH needs
• Challenging behaviour
• Personal care

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
