Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming Primary SEN School in Tameside seeking a dedicated Sensory Support Assistant to join their specialist team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a nurturing environment where no two days are the same. You'll play a vital role in supporting pupils to communicate, regulate their emotions and engage with learning through sensory and practical activities.
Your Role
As a Sensory Support Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of complex SEN.
- Deliver engaging sensory-based activities tailored to individual learning needs.
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social interaction.
- Help create structured routines that enable pupils to feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide consistent support.
- Celebrate every achievement, no matter how small, helping pupils build confidence and independence.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people in education, care, nursery, youth work or support settings.
- Is calm, caring, resilient and able to build positive relationships.
- Enjoys practical, hands-on learning and sensory play.
- Can adapt their approach to meet individual pupil needs.
- Is passionate about making a genuine difference in children's lives.
Experience supporting any of the following would be advantageous:
- Autism (ASC)
- Complex learning needs
- Sensory processing differences
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- ADHD
- PMLD or SLD
- Non-verbal communication
- Personal care

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
