Senior Teaching Assistant – Specialist Education Cover

Glastonbury | Part-Time Supply | £14.25 Per Hour

Teaching Personnel is recruiting experienced Senior Teaching Assistants for flexible supply opportunities across several specialist SEN and SEMH provisions within the Glastonbury area.

These positions are perfect for skilled professionals who enjoy supporting vulnerable learners while working within a range of educational environments. Cover requirements can vary, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking flexibility without compromising on impact.

September 2026 is the intended start date, with opportunities to begin earlier where availability exists.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced classroom support.
  • Assist pupils with complex learning profiles.
  • Lead small-group interventions.
  • Support behaviour and emotional wellbeing programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with educators and therapeutic professionals.
  • Mentor less experienced support staff where appropriate.
  • Encourage positive engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain detailed observations and feedback.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Have previous SEN, SEMH or specialist education experience.
  • Can confidently enter new settings and contribute immediately.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Understand safeguarding expectations.
  • Possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Remain calm and effective in challenging situations.
