Contract: Full Time / Permanent
Hours: 37 Hours per Week, Term Time Plus Additional Weeks

A successful and ambitious secondary school in Basingstoke is seeking an experienced and organised Senior Science Technician to join its thriving Science Faculty from September 2026.

The Science Department

The Science Faculty is a dynamic and successful department where practical learning plays a central role in developing students' scientific understanding and curiosity. The department benefits from specialist facilities and a collaborative team culture focused on delivering engaging and effective learning experiences.

As Senior Science Technician, you will be responsible for helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the department and supporting the delivery of practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on the preparation and organisation of practical Science resources
  • Supporting teachers with practical investigations and demonstrations
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring it remains safe and fit for purpose
  • Managing stock levels and ordering equipment and consumables
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Supporting the wider technician team and helping to coordinate departmental operations
  • Contributing to the effective delivery of practical Science across the curriculum

  • Has previous experience in a Science Technician or laboratory-based role
  • Possesses strong organisational and technical skills
  • Has a good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Is proactive, reliable and able to manage competing priorities
  • Has a passion for supporting high-quality Science education
