A successful and growing secondary school in Basingstoke is seeking an organised, enthusiastic and proactive Science Technician to join its dedicated Science Faculty from September 2026.

The Science Department
The Science Faculty is a well-resourced and successful department with a strong focus on practical investigation and scientific enquiry. Teaching takes place in specialist laboratories supported by experienced technicians and high-quality resources. The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons
- Supporting the delivery of experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring resources are stored safely
- Assisting staff with practical demonstrations and investigations
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering equipment and consumables where required
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the Science department

Who We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Has good organisational and communication skills
- Works accurately and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
- Has an interest in Science and supporting student learning
- Understands the importance of health and safety within a laboratory environment
- Is proactive, reliable and able to manage multiple priorities
Previous experience working in a school laboratory, scientific environment or technical support role would be advantageous but is not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
