SEND Teaching Assistant – September 2026 Start

Are you passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) reach their full potential?

Teaching Personnel is looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic individuals to work as SEND Teaching Assistants in primary schools across Plymouth, Tavistock, Saltash, Launceston and surrounding areas from September 2026.

Whether you have previous experience in education, care, support work, youth work, coaching or are looking to begin a rewarding career in schools, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Duties may include:

✅ Supporting children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups

✅ Assisting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs

✅ Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons

✅ Supporting emotional regulation and social development

✅ Working alongside teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored support

✅ Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

  • Psychology, Education or Health & Social Care graduates

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
