Are you a compassionate, patient and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Autism?
We are currently recruiting dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work within specialist SEND schools and resource provisions across Milton Keynes. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with Autism and associated learning needs, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills and achieve their individual goals within a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism
- Supporting the delivery of personalised learning programmes
- Assisting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Promoting positive behaviour through consistent strategies and routines
- Supporting sensory needs and helping pupils manage transitions throughout the school day
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals
- Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learning
- Recording progress and contributing to pupil reviews where required
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism
- Previous experience in a SEND school, mainstream school, care or support setting is desirable
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Experience with PECS, Makaton, sensory support or communication aids would be advantageous
- Team Teach training is desirable but not essential
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
