SEND Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting on a Temp-to-Perm basis. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and making a meaningful difference in their educational journey.
The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have a range of complex and severe learning needs, providing tailored support to help them access learning and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Support students with severe and complex needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Physical disabilities
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Assist with personal care duties where required, ensuring dignity, respect, and safeguarding are maintained at all times
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff to deliver personalised learning and care plans
- Create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all learners
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in education, care, or support settings
- Knowledge or experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and/or PMLD
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Confidence supporting pupils with personal care requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
