SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Darwen
Length of role: Temp to perm starting September 2026
Pay Rate: £14.25 – £16.00 per hour
Type of setting: Mainstream Primary

About the Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a SEND Teaching Assistant in a mainstream primary school in Darwen. Starting in September 2026, this temp-to-perm role offers stability and long-term career prospects within a supportive educational setting.

You will be based in a specialist SEN classroom, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and Speech & Language difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Encourage communication and social interaction
  • Assist with behaviour management strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs
  • Create a positive and nurturing learning environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting SEN pupils is highly desirable
  • Understanding of ASC and communication needs
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Passion for inclusive education
