SEND Teaching Assistant
Job description
A SEND primary school within the Bury area is looking for a passionate and dedicated teaching assistant to help support children of different complex needs, including autism, difficulty communicating and nonverbal children. You would be working alongside experienced staff to create a safe and exciting learning environment, following EHCPs and behaviour plans. You would play a critical role in development and progression of each child, providing a high quality of support and maintaining a nurturing environment where the children thrive.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will:
- Assist the classroom staff ensuring children are safe,
- Support outside the classroom during interventions and break/ lunch time support,
- Work to support students regarding EHCPs and behaviour plans,
- Adapt communication strategies in accordance with the child’s needs and abilities.
- Encourage pupils to be engaged and confident,
- Chance of providing personal care if required.
For this role you should:
- Have experience working with complex needs, desired not essential
- Assist the classroom staff ensuring children are safe
- Be confident dealing with challenging behaviour
- Be Patience, resilient and empathetic
- Have strong communication skills
This role will be full-time and long term, working hours being 8:30am till 3:30pm

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
