About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a secondary school seeking committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2026.
These roles are focused on supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will play a key role in helping students access their learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships within a supportive school environment.

The Role: SEND Teaching Assistant (SEMH Focus)
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support students both in and out of the classroom, with a particular emphasis on social and emotional development.
A key part of this role involves delivering small group interventions during tutor time, typically working with groups of around four students to support targeted development in behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills.
You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEND team to ensure students receive consistent, high‑quality support.
What You Will Do
- Provide targeted support for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Deliver small group interventions (approximately 4 students) during tutor time
- Support students in lessons to access the curriculum and remain engaged
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to promote wellbeing
- Assist with behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation
- Monitor and report on student progress and development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and pastoral teams
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Promote safeguarding, attendance, and student wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
