SENDCo (Secondary SEN – Alternative Provision)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENDCo to join a Secondary SEN Alternative Provision school in Northampton, supporting students with complex needs including SEMH, autism, ADHD, and behavioral challenges.
This is a key leadership role focused on ensuring high-quality SEND provision for students who may have struggled in mainstream education. You will play a vital part in creating a structured, supportive, and inclusive environment that enables students to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage SEND provision across the school
- Develop, implement, and review EHCPs and individual support plans
- Monitor student progress and evaluate the impact of interventions
- Support staff with behaviour strategies and inclusive teaching practices
- Work closely with senior leadership to drive SEND strategy and improvement
- Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, SEND Code of Practice, and Ofsted standards
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to staff
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- NASENCO or NPQ in SEND (essential or working towards)
- Proven experience within SEN and/or Alternative Provision settings
- Strong understanding of SEMH, autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs
- Experience managing challenging behaviour and re-engagement strategies
- In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, inclusion, and SEND legislation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
