Job description

We are seeking dedicated, experienced and adaptable tutors to provide high-quality tuition support for pupils across Woking and nearby areas.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for educators who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve meaningful academic progress.

Our referrals often involve pupils who may have:
✔ Experienced disrupted education
✔ Fallen significantly behind academically
✔ Lost confidence in learning
✔ Additional educational or emotional needs
✔ Difficulty accessing full-time mainstream education

As a result, we are looking for tutors who can create engaging, personalised sessions and build strong, positive relationships with pupils who require patience, encouragement and consistency.

Subjects Needed

We are currently recruiting tutors specialising in:

  • English
  • Mathematics

Tuition will cover both Primary and Secondary age ranges.

About the Role

Sessions may take place:

  • In pupils’ homes
  • Within school settings
  • In community venues such as libraries
  • Online

Successful tutors must be confident tailoring lessons to suit varying abilities, learning gaps and additional needs. Flexibility and creativity in teaching approaches are essential.

This role goes far beyond academic instruction — tutors play a key role in rebuilding confidence, engagement and routine for pupils who may have struggled within traditional educational settings.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Teaching qualifications or substantial tutoring experience
  • Strong Maths or English subject knowledge
  • Experience supporting Primary and/or Secondary pupils
  • The ability to differentiate work effectively
  • A nurturing, patient and professional approach
  • Experience with SEND, SEMH or disengaged learners (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

We are particularly interested in tutors who genuinely understand the importance of building trust and adapting their teaching style to meet individual pupil needs.

Reporting & Pupil Progress

Tutors will be expected to maintain professional and detailed records, including:

  • Attendance tracking
  • Session summaries
  • Progress updates
  • Engagement observations
  • Clear communication with schools, parents and coordinators

High-quality written feedback and reliability are extremely important within this role.

Hours & Flexibility

We are looking for tutors seeking a minimum of 10–15 hours per week, with additional tuition opportunities available depending on availability.

Flexible scheduling available across weekdays and after-school hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
