SEN Tutor
Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Primary SEN Tutor to support pupils who are currently unable to attend school for a range of reasons. This role involves providing personalised, high-quality education to vulnerable learners and helping them re-engage with their learning in a supportive, nurturing environment.
About the Role:
As an SEN Tutor, you will work with pupils on a 1:1 basis, delivering tailored lessons that meet their individual needs. Sessions may take place in the pupil’s home, within a school setting, or online, depending on the pupil’s circumstances and requirements. A significant part of the initial tutoring period will focus on building trust, establishing rapport, and creating a safe, positive foundation for learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver bespoke tuition to primary-aged pupils with a variety of special educational needs.

Support learners who are unable to attend school due to medical, emotional, behavioural, or other complex needs.

Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel comfortable, motivated, and secure.

Provide daily attendance updates and brief session summaries.

Set clear learning objectives and targets, reviewing and adapting them as needed.

Work collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals involved in the pupil’s care.
Requirements:

Experience working with a range of SEN, such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, medical needs, and anxiety-related non-attendance.

Previous experience supporting vulnerable or disengaged pupils.

Ability to deliver tuition confidently in-home, in-school, or online.

Availability for a minimum of 10–15 hours per week.

A patient, empathetic, and child-centred approach.

Strong communication and record-keeping skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
