Job description

SEMH Tutor - Bracknell

Help Change Lives Through Education

Are you the kind of educator who sees the child behind the behaviour?

Do you understand that progress isn't always measured by grades and assessment data, but by trust, resilience, confidence, and the small yet significant achievements made along the way?

We're seeking dedicated tutors in the Bracknell area who are looking for more than just teaching hours. This is an opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference to young people who need consistent, compassionate, and skilled educational support.

The Role

The majority of our referrals are for secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and other complex needs. Many of these young people have faced challenges within mainstream education and require patient, structured, and reliable support to help them re-engage with learning.

This is far more than delivering lessons.

You'll play an important role in:

  • Building strong, professional relationships with pupils
  • Creating safe, structured, and supportive learning environments
  • Supporting both academic progress and emotional regulation
  • Providing a consistent and dependable presence that helps pupils succeed

Availability

To be considered for this role, you must be able to commit to:

  • A minimum of 10-15 hours per week
  • Core working hours typically between 8:30am and 3:30pm
  • Availability Monday to Friday

Consistency is essential, both for the pupils we support and the wider professional teams working alongside them.

What Matters Beyond Teaching

Our tutors do more than teach. Strong communication, professionalism, and accurate reporting are key aspects of the role.

You will be responsible for:

  • Accurately recording attendance
  • Monitoring and documenting pupil progress
  • Providing clear updates that can be shared with schools and other professionals
  • Maintaining accurate, professional, and up-to-date records

Your observations may contribute to EHCP reviews, school planning, and wider multi-agency decision-making, making attention to detail and effective communication essential.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from professionals with experience in:

  • Private tuition
  • Mainstream or specialist schools
  • Alternative provision
  • Youth work or pastoral roles

The qualities that matter most include:

  • Strong behaviour management underpinned by empathy
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and other complex needs
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliability, resilience, and consistency
  • Confidence working independently

What Progress Can Look Like

Success in this role isn't always reflected by academic outcomes alone.

Sometimes, progress means:

  • A student remaining engaged throughout an entire session
  • Completing work without escalation
  • Beginning to trust a supportive adult again

If you recognise these moments as meaningful achievements, you'll understand the impact this role can have.

Why Join Us?

  • Meaningful and rewarding work with real purpose
  • Consistent daytime working hours
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people's educational journeys
  • Supportive collaboration with a wider professional network

This is tutoring with purpose, responsibility, and genuine impact.

If you're passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, build confidence, and reconnect with learning, and can commit to consistent hours in the Bracknell area, we'd love to hear from you. Join us in making a meaningful difference where it matters most.

All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
