SEN Therapy Assistant
Job description
We are recruiting an SEN Therapy Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in a specialist school setting in Lancaster. This role works closely with therapy and teaching teams to support pupils’ physical development, sensory regulation, and access to learning.
This position is well suited to individuals with experience in care, therapy support, SEN, or health-related environments who are looking for a school-based role.
The Role:
As an SEN Therapy Assistant, you will support the delivery of therapy-led programmes under the guidance of qualified professionals. Pupils have complex physical, sensory, and medical needs, and require consistent, structured support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils with physical positioning, mobility, and sensory activities

Assist with therapy programmes designed by occupational and physiotherapists

Support pupils during sensory sessions, hydrotherapy, or movement-based activities

Ensure equipment is used safely and correctly

Support pupils with personal care and medical routines where required

Work collaboratively with therapists, teachers, and support staff
Requirements:

Experience working with children or adults with complex needs or disabilities

Confidence supporting physical and sensory needs

Calm, patient, and attentive approach

Ability to follow detailed care and therapy plans

Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
