Teaching Personnel is looking for empathetic and dedicated SEN 1:1 Support Assistants to join our team in Plymouth. This role involves providing tailored assistance to students with additional needs, including those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). You’ll play a crucial role in supporting children who may face challenges such as ADHD, Autism, trauma, or other behavioural and emotional difficulties, helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive educational setting.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized 1:1 support to students, adapting approaches to meet each child’s unique needs.
- Use effective strategies to support students with challenging behaviours, including de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices.
- Foster a positive and safe environment, encouraging students to engage and thrive.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement support plans effectively.
- Track and record students' progress, including any incidents, and regularly report back to the wider team.
- Assist with creating an inclusive classroom environment that values diversity and individual growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals with additional needs (experience in education, healthcare, or social services is advantageous).
- Familiarity with Autism, ADHD, trauma-informed approaches, and behaviour management techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, understanding approach to working with young people.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Health & Social Care) are preferred but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
