Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, until Summer Holidays (with likely extension into September and potential for a permanent position)
Hours: Monday to Friday, term-time only


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position to start immediately, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

The role is initially until the summer holidays, with a strong likelihood of continuing into the new academic year from September and the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
  • Support students with a range of needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and complex learning needs
  • Help manage behaviour positively, promoting a safe and inclusive classroom environment
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
  • Support with personal care where required (training can be provided)
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, or similar setting)
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic environment
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE, Teaching Assistant, or similar) are desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
