SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time

Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Start Date: 1st June 2026
Duration: Until Summer Holidays (July 2026)
Contract Type: Full-time (Monday–Friday)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience


Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Stoke-on-Trent from 1st June. This is a full-time position running until the end of the academic year, with the potential to be extended into September and the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff for the right candidate.

You will be supporting children with a range of additional needs, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where all pupils can thrive.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored and differentiated learning activities
  • Support pupils with a variety of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
  • Support with personal care where required (if applicable)
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based experience desirable)
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to different needs and learning styles
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
