Contract: Full-time, temporary until Christmas (with potential extension and permanent opportunity)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Stoke-on-Trent from September. This is a full-time position supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, with an initial contract running until Christmas. There is the opportunity for the role to be extended and potentially become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, SEMH and complex learning needs
- Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development in line with their individual education plans (EHCPs)
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, adapted lessons tailored to meet diverse learning needs
- Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies
- Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Support with personal care where required (training provided if necessary)
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support pupil progress
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or school setting
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
- Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
