Sen Teaching Assistant - SEMH & SEN

We are currently seeking an experienced SEN Support Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Rochdale, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working within a secondary school setting and have a strong understanding of supporting young people with additional needs.

The Role

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Support students both academically and pastorally.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence and independence.
• Work closely with teaching staff and the school's SEN team.
• Support positive behaviour and help students regulate their emotions.
• Adapt support to meet individual pupils' needs and learning styles.
• Encourage positive engagement with lessons and school life.
• Build strong, professional relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a secondary school setting.
• Has experience supporting pupils with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
• Understands the challenges that young people with additional needs may face.
• Has strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Can build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
