SEN Teaching Assistant Needed | Full-Time Role Available
Location: Merthyr Tydfil & Aberdare
Pay: £92.63 - £100 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Opportunities Available
Teaching Personnel are looking for a caring, resilient, and enthusiastic SEN Support Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Autism Resource Base within a welcoming primary school in the Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare area.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping them to access education, build confidence, develop social skills, and achieve their individual goals within a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and ALN.
- Support pupils both within the classroom and during intervention sessions.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour, social development, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support pupils with communication, independence, and daily routines.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for further support.
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEN/ALN, particularly Autism (desirable but not essential).
- Be patient, compassionate, and committed to helping every child succeed.
- Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Be passionate about making a meaningful difference to children's lives.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
